"Free" Art piece
My colored pencil piece "Free" was created based off a random word that later became the title. I used a random word generator because I wanted a challenge for a media I'm already familiar with. Free was the word, and the first thing that came to mind was a peaceful environment using calmer colors like cool blues and muted pinks. I also wanted to incorporate oranges in the piece since I had already used a ton of blue (complementary), so I added gold accents. I also added cherry blossoms to complete this windy scene. Original rough gesture sketch below.
Pop-Up Art Show Pieces
I chose to do three digital pieces for the pop-up art show, focusing on character expression, environment, and lighting. While none of the pieces are really done due to a time crunch, I feel like on my last piece I was starting to understand color better and how it is influenced by the environment. For the first piece, I wanted to convey intense emotion with stronger back lighting and an intense expression. The second piece focused more on mystery and therefore I tried to use more muted colors, incorporating greener tones. The last piece was intended to have more of a captivating aesthetic, so I decided to stick with muted purples and grays. My whole idea for the series was to make the eyes the focal point.
Chinatown PAINT WIP
The purpose of this piece was to get comfortable with painting, specifically with acrylics. A picture of Chinatown was used as a reference with a few changes. I first sketched it out using one point perspective.
Tribal Paint WIP
The purpose of this piece was to get comfortable with painting, specifically with oils. The idea originated from a rough features sketch (bottom right) and further a gesture sketch (bottom left)
